The 10th Anniversary of Cooking for the Hounds by Chef Chris Ward of The Mercury was celebrated on Sunday, August 9, 2015, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. This event is a perennial favorite and was sold out again this year, with 60 lucky people attending. What an entertaining way to spend a 106 degree afternoon in Texas - beating the heat in the cool confines of The Mercury!
Chef Ward served up Steak Tartare with butter fries, followed by a tasty Shrimp Taco with charred yellow tomato salsa, then Cracklin
Chicken with potato puree and mixed fresh vegetables. The piece de resistance was the delicious Lemon Lime Tart with cherry pulp sauce.
Attendees were greeted by Shelton, our GALT Greyt Ambassador, and received their choice of wine, salty dogs, greyhounds or other libations. As always, the silent and live auction items were a hit with lots of jewelry, art work, restaurant/gift certificates and more!
