GALTX

Slim is an approximately 10 year old fawn staghound that was surrendered to the animal shelter in Duncan, OK, along with 8 year old Mac. His former owner said they were too old to hunt anymore. Slim arrived seriously underweight and very ill from what has now been determined as a significant positive titer to Ehrlichia Canis. He recovered after being cared for and closely monitored by Dr. Soileau of VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital and Dr. Stiller of Animal Diagnostic Clinic. Slim is now on daily maintenance medications to support his kidney functions. He is fine with small dogs, but it is not known if he is cat tolerant.

Slim is a BIG, fuzzy, blonde, Staghound who loves playing with toys. He craves affection and gives the sweetest butterfly kisses. His big green eyes make him even more striking. This tall, handsome approx. 9-10 y.o.boy started life in OK hunting Coyotes. Slim was surrendered to a shelter along with his best buddy, Mac, when the boys were no longer interested in hunting. Since coming to GALT sweet Slim has gained weight and recovered from two tick-borne diseases. Slim is a bit of a fussy eater and, while he's still quite 'Slim', he's filled out nicely. Slim is a very low-energy dog who moves slowly and loves his naps. He's great on the leash and, while he rides very well in the car, he needs a little help getting his back legs up and in. He's fully housebroken and has excellent house manners. Although he's not very vocal he does bark to go out and come back in. Slim and Mac are closely bonded friends who look after each other and interact affectionately. It's important that they find a forever home where they can be together.
