Rocket is an approximately 4 year old black and white fuzzy greyhound. The Mansfield Animal Control Officer called early Thursday September 27, as they had received a call Wednesday night from folks who witnessed a dog being thrown out of a truck. When they got to him, his leg was badly broken, so they immediately took him to the nearby emergency animal clinic. They were picking him up at 8am and wanted to know if GALT could take him. A very thin Rocket was picked up by 11am by a dedicated GALT volunteer and taken to VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital. Surgery was scheduled on Friday morning with Dr. Bob Radasch of the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. It was a badly broken Tibia, which was set with a bone plate and 8 screws. Dr. Radasch is convinced the break was due to his being hurled out of the truck, as he has many cuts and scrapes. Rocket will be in an experienced foster home for approximately 6-8 while the bone heals. It is not known at this time if Rocket is small animal or cat tolerant.

The special medical treatment cost needed by Rocket is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Rocket's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You WILL and CAN make a difference in Rocket's life and the lives of other greyhounds in need of special medical care. Your help and support will make a difference - one greyhound at a time.
